Storm Strut Strong Arms Door Wind Impact

(Elkhorn, WI) - One thing is certain. Hurricanes are more frequent and severe. Even away from "Hurricane Alley" winds are getting rougher.

Regardless if your structure and door are "grandfathered" so that today's increasingly stringent building codes don't apply, you will still want to be sure your door can stand up to severe conditions to avoid costly damage to your building's contents, minimize disruptions and be back in operation quicker when the storm is done doing its worst.

Wilson's Storm Strut provides added defense against buffeting winds and can offer up additional, much needed support to fight the pounding your large door will face when the next storm hits.

Installation is easy. Simply bolt or weld the collapsible strut in place, make provisions for the "shoulder harness" in the floor and your door is equipped to meet the next onslaught. Wider doors call for multiple Storm Struts to shore them up, making them ready to beat strong wind gusts.

Under normal operation the Storm Strut pins in place against the panel and is a part of the door's lower bi-fold or rolling door panel. The strut is never in the way and becomes an integral part of the panel.

As a hurricane approaches during the flurry of preparation the Storm Strut can be easily and quickly put into place. Bolt the floor plate in place, unpin the Storm Strut, swing it out letting it telescope to the floor and pin the unit in place. Repeat with each strut. It's that simple and it is off to other prep tasks. When the storm passes storing the Storm Strut back against the panel takes just seconds.

While Wilson cannot guarantee particular wind load ratings the installation of Storm Strut will greatly improve the odds of protecting the building interior.

Founded in 1956, Wilson specializes in the design and made to order construction of quality, lightweight aluminum and economical steel vertical bi-fold doors, as well as large exterior sliding doors. The doors are used in a variety of facilities including industrial, commercial, agricultural, aviation and marine.
